Matthew 24:27,28
For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Luke 17:34-37
I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

The woman who provided the logo for House Committee also brought my attention to these verses as applying to what goes on with the internet -- that God's eagles are present also where there is so much spiritual death. Traditionally, these verses have been interpreted to apply to the Roman conquest of the state of Judah, noting the eagle was the ensign of the Roman army, and the Jews had chosen death in rejecting God. However, the verses seem to refer primarily to eagles being gathered where there is a dead body, or particularly, one fallen by violence. Thus, the coming of the Son of Man is like his gathering of eagles. In the Old Testament, eagles represent swift and majestic power, an angel, a conqueror, Job 9:26; Proverbs 30:18,19; Jeremiah 48:40; 49:22; Ezekiel 1:10; 10:14; 17:3,7; Hosea 8:1; Habakkuk 1:8.

Indeed, Christians can be eagles on the internet, empowered by the Holy Spirit with fire.

The graphic comes from lilmissmontana's photo bucket.

(Modern translations usually change these verses to vultures gathering where there is a carcass or corpse).
